There are various elements to a RentPassport®.

All RentPassports require Essential screening to be completed. Your agent can request a further screening to be conducted but you will be notified of any of these in the app.

Please click on the relevant section to see more details on how to complete the sections as well as the required material to complete verification.

Essential screening

The following sections

Comprehensive screening

Comprehensive screening includes both employment and a landlord reference. Your agent will need to request this as part of your referencing in order for you to complete this. They can send this request at the point of invitation or at any time during the referencing process.

Right to Rent

All agents will need to conduct a right to rent check on all renters. This is to ensure the person renting the property has the legal right to rent a property within this country. Agents may manage this internally or they can request Canopy's assistance by using our ID verification partner. Your agent will need to request this as part of your referencing in order for you to complete this. They can send this request at the point of invitation or at any time during the referencing process.

Guarantor

During a tenancy application, sometimes a guarantor is required. For example, someone with no income will require a guarantor in case they default on rent payments. This means the agent can request the guarantor to make the payment.

Whether or not you will require a guarantor is a decision made by the agent/ landlord. They can send you a request at the point of invitation or at any time during the referencing process. You will then be required to provide details for your guarantor and they must complete their RentPassport.

Ensure you have shared your RentPassport with the agent in order for them to view your referencing report. Instructions can be found here.
