Credit check
Updated over a week ago

As part of your RentPassport, you must complete the 'Credit check' section. The purpose of the credit check is to verify your identity, provide your agent with a credit background and see if you have any adverse financial history.

We are powered by Experian which provides us with your financial and credit background. Please note, not everybody will have a credit profile, as Experian need to have a certain level of data attached to an individual in their databases to provide a profile. This data could include electoral roll registration, utility bills under your name or a bank account associated with one or more of your previous addresses.

Step 1:
Select the 'Credit check' section on your RentPassport. Input your full legal name, date of birth, contact number and nationality then click 'Confirm'.

Step 2:

You will now be asked to input your full address history. Similarly to Experian, we recommend entering at least three years to get an accurate credit history.

Please make sure that at least one of these addresses is used for your bank, phone, utility bills or electoral register.

If you have not lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 months, you will be unlikely to have enough of a credit footprint for Experian to pull this information.

Not to worry, as this will be reflected on your RentPassport. You will just need to manually enter your non-UK addresses and click 'Confirm' when asked if you have lived in the UK for less than 3 months.

Step 3:

Enter the addresses using the postcode finder at the top of the screen. Once this has been populated, ensure the details are correct and add the date you moved in. Click done and repeat the steps if necessary.

Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Please ensure you have included a house number or name to proceed.

Step 4:

Click 'Next' and we will run a credit check with Experian. This may take a few moments. Once completed, you will see a Credit Indicator.

If you are not able to find your credit profile, this could be due to having a thin credit profile. More information can be found here.

Please note: If you are not connected to an agent, sections of your RentPassport are not auto-verified and will appear as self-certified. All manual reviews by our referencing team will be undertaken once you have connected to an agent for a tenancy application.
