Instant Referencing: Credit Check
As part of your instant RentPassport™ you must complete the 'Credit check' section. This displays your credit score and if you have any active or satisfied CCJ's or bankruptcies.
The purpose of the Credit Indicator is to provide your agent with a credit background and see if you have any adverse financial history. It will also help in seeing if you qualify for DepositFree™ Insurance. This will show the agent your reliability in terms of regular payments.
We are powered by Experian who provide us with your financial and credit background. In order to pull a credit report through, please ensure you are registered on the electoral roll, have utility bills under your name or have a bank account associated at one or more of your previous addresses. These are the databases Experian use to search for your identity and credit history.
Select the 'Credit check' section on your RentPassport™.
If you have not lived in the UK for more than 6 months, you will not have enough of a credit footprint in order for Experian to pull this information. Not to worry as this will be reflected on your RentPassport™, you will just need to answer the following question correctly:
If you have lived in the UK for longer than 6 months and have been registered at one or more of your addresses, click "Yes" and you will be asked to confirm your details. Input your full legal name, date of birth and contact number.
You will now be asked to input your full address history. Similarly to Experian, we recommend entering at least three years to get an accurate credit history.
Enter the addresses using the postcode finder at the top of the screen. Once this has been populated ensure the details are correct and add the date you moved in. Click done and repeat the steps if necessary.
Mandatory field are marked with a *. Please ensure you have included a house number or name to proceed.
This section is now complete and you will see a credit indicator which reflects where you fall within Experians credit indicator. Please see the example below.
