If your agent requires a guarantor for your tenancy application and you do not have a UK based candidate, not to worry! Canopy has teamed up with Housing Hand to provide a guarantor replacement service. Follow the steps below to apply for this cover.
Please note: This replacement service needs to be approved by your agent. If you do not see this option in your rent passport, you will not be able to utilise this service.
Step 1: Log into your RentPassport and click on guarantor under your Connections. You will see this section state 'Required' when the agent has triggered this request.
This field will not be visible if the agent has not requested a guarantor.
Step 2: Under 'Don't have a UK guarantor, click "Get started" and you will be prompted to select your employment status. This will determine your eligibility for cover. Select the option 'Student'.
Step 3: Check the consent box and click "Apply".
Step 5: By tapping on the Apply button below, you will be redirected to Housing Hand's website to complete your application. You will be required to provide further evidence and tenancy details including:
If this is a shared household, you will need to supply your share of the rent, not the full rent for the household
- Have proof of study documents from UCAS or a letter from your University
- Proof of ID
- Proof of address
- Must be your registered residence not a student address
- Co-signer details and their contact details

Once you and your Co-Signer have completed the process, we will notify your Agent and Housing Hand will assess your application. This can take up to 7 working days, you can review your application progress within the Housing Hand portal.
