Verifying Income: Students

If you are a student and in receipt of funding to assist you with living costs, we can accept these as your income. The following details are for bursaries, grants and scholarships. If you are in receipt of a maintenance loan, please click here. 

• If you are employed during your education please ensure you enter these details separately by also selecting employed in income sources.

• For those without any income support please select No income in your RentPassport.
  What to do if you have no income

In order for our referencing team to verify your income, you will need to provide evidence of this income by uploading one of the following documents:

• Award letter
• Reference letter from the institution
• Reference letter from the sponsoring embassy

Award letter:

This is an official letter provided by the institute providing you with income support whilst you are studying. This can include bursaries, grants and scholarships. We do not consider any payments towards tuition fees, only the maintenance element of the payments.

Reference letter from the institution:

This is a letter which can be supplied to you by the institute providing you with income support whilst you are studying. This can include bursaries, grants and scholarships. We do not consider any payments towards tuition fees, only the maintenance element of the payments.

Reference letter from the sponsoring embassy:

This is a letter which can be supplied to you by your country's embassy providing you with income support whilst you are studying. This can include bursaries, grants and scholarships. We do not consider any payments towards tuition fees, only the maintenance element of the payments.

Please note: If you are not connected to an agent, sections of your RentPassport are not auto-verified and will appear as self-certified. All manual reviews by our referencing team will be undertaken once you have connected to an agent for a tenancy application.
