As it is a legal requirement for all agents/landlords to undertake checks that renter have a right to rent within the UK, Canopy now offer a service which includes ID verification and document storage.
Please note this does not negate the requirement of the Agent/Landlord to see person and ID in person.
Once you have sent a request to the renter and they have shared their RentPassport™ with you, right to rent documents can be requested at any point of the referencing journey.
Please follow the step below to do so:
Step 1: Sign into your Canopy HQ and click on selected RentPassport™. Ensure you select the correct connected branch if you have access to multiple branches.
Step 2: You can now click on the "Request" button next to Right to Rent on the right panel
Or alternatively you can find the "Request Right To Rent" button at the bottom of the RentPassport™.
Step 3: Once you have clicked one of the request buttons you will see the following pop up asking you to confirm the payment for the right to rent check. This is £2 +VAT per renter, tick the check box if you are happy to proceed.
Step 4: Click "Send Request". This will now send a prompt to the renter to provide the appropriate ID/right to rent documents and follow the verification process with IDnow in app.
