Canopy RentPassport™ is your digital rental history.
Letting agents and Landlords need to verify a Tenant's suitability for the property they have applied for. This includes verifying tenants' employment, income and ensuring that the tenant is able to meet their rental payments. Instant tenant verification will speed up the rental application process for Renters, Lettings Agents and Landlords
As part of the instant validation, Renters are also able to access a range of affordable, ethical and fair financial wellness products such as Canopy RentTracking™ or DepositFree™.
How can a RentPassport™ help me as a tenant?
A RentPassport™ displays all of your information, that an agent would need in order to complete a tenancy agreement. This means that your agent/landlord can access all the information in one place and see live progress and status updates on your journey. Your RentPassport™ will include the following:

- Address History
- Credit Indicator

Rental Preferences
This is an overview of your rental preferences to assist your agents in finding suitable properties that meet your requirements. For example whether you would prefer a furnished or unfurnished property or the number of bedrooms that you require.
Identity
This displays your personal details including your full legal name, email address, date of birth and contact number.
In order for your identity to be verified, Experian need to locate your credit profile. In order to do so we request all applicants to ensure that these details are entered correctly
Address history
Here you will see your full UK address history. Once you have entered your address history, date of birth and full name, Experian should be able to return the credit information necessary to carry out the referencing checks.
We request that you ensure you are registered at all address entered under the Electoral Roll, with utility bills or bank accounts under your name in order for Experian to locate you.
Credit Indicator
Here you will be able to see your credit indicator which can range from 'Very Poor' to 'Excellent'. Our Credit report, powered by Experian, requires at least 3 years UK address history. You will have to currently or previously been registered at the address under the Electoral Roll, with utility bills or bank account(s) at the addresses in order to locate your Credit profile. This is then reflected on your RentPassport™. The purpose of the Credit Indicator is to provide your agent/landlord with your financial and credit background this highlights any active or satisfied CCJs and will also display any bankruptcy.

Income Verification
We verify your income in order to reflect the correct affordability on your RentPassport™. You are given two options when verifying your income, Open Banking and our Manual option. The Open Banking feature connects to the your bank and picks up your income payments which is then reflected onto your RentPassport™.

You are also provided with the option to verify your income manually whereby you are required to upload documents which support your verification of income payments which are then reviewed and verified by our referencing team.
Rent Payments
This section displays your most recent Rent Payments. The purpose of the rent verification section is for you to demonstrate consistency in your rent payments. Similar to income verification, you have the option to use Open Banking which will pick up your most recent rent payments and reflect this on your RentPassport™ and the option to verify manually, this means you can provide us with documents which support your verification of rent payments.
If you have not rented before you have the option to select 'Not rented' which will be displayed on your RentPassport™.

RentTracking™
RentTracking™ allows you to improve your credit history by simply tracking your rent payments through Open Banking. In order to set up RentTracking™ you will first need to complete the rest of your RentPassport™. Unfortunately unlike "Income verification" and "Rent payments" there is not a manual journey for this and can only be accessed via open banking. In order for RentTracking™ to work correctly your rent amount and transaction ID will need to remain the same each month and you will need to upload your rent agreement.
Full Screening
Full screening is not mandatory to in order to complete a RentPassport™ but it is an option which we provide to your agent should they want full comprehensive referencing. If your agent requests full screening you are required to provide details of an Employment and Landlord referee and once a reference is returned and verified this will be displayed on your RentPassport™.
Employment Reference
The Employment reference displays your
- Company Name
- Job Title
- Employment Status
- Employment Type
- Payment Frequency
- Start date
The purpose of the Employment reference is to give a detailed description and status of your employment.
Full Screening: Employment Reference
Landlord Reference
The landlord reference displays your
- Previous address
- Payment frequency
- Tenancy Start Date
- Tenancy End Date
- Rent Amount
- Rent Arrears
- Any damage to the property
- Would they rent to the tenant again.
The purpose of this section is provide your agent with further information of what kind of tenant you will be.
