How do I claim my deposit back from my landlord?
If you are currently renting and have already paid a cash deposit to your agent/landlord you can still take out a DepositFree™ Insurance policy. This means that you can claim your deposit back from your landlord and pay a fraction of the price instead. Learn more.
Please be aware: The responsibility to release the cash deposit lies with your agent/landlord. The purchase of a DFI will need to be authorised and actioned by your agent/landlord. Canopy can assist you in the referencing process but do not have any control over your cash deposit.
Step 1:
Discuss the option of DepositFree™ Insurance with your agent. If they are happy to go ahead with it, follow the below steps.
Step 2:
Complete your instant RentPassport™ for a tailor-made, instant quote.
Step 3:
Share your RentPassport™ with your letting agent or landlord.
Step 4:
Your letting agent or landlord can simply sign up and invite you to purchase your DepositFree™ policy. You and your landlord will also have to contact the deposit scheme so you can get your cash deposit back.
See Purchasing a DepositFree™ Agreement for a full breakdown on how to purchase.
